Textile fabric pictures, ca.1890.

Twenty-five pictures (most in color) of textile fabrics in the collection of the South Kensington Museum (the Victoria and Albert Museum). Included are brocades, brocatelle, damasks, embroideries, and cloth of gold from Persia, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Sicily, Spain, Portugal, and England. The textiles date from the 13th to the 17th centuries, but most are from the 16th and 17th centuries. One plate is a picture of an early Venetian Renaissance brocatelle which had been reproduced by Cornille Freres, and was offered for sale by Milton Wolf of New York.
